Congratulations are in order for Sundridge Park's Gaia Cawley who came 3rd in the qualifying event for The Kent Junior Championships. She then went on to win the consolation final. Fantastic news Gaia! Pictured here with her trophy....first of many I hope!
Whilst we had some crazy weather this week, Week 2 of the Summer Camps finished with some sunshine and lots of laughter!
We have two remaining weeks so don't forget to book in if you would like to take part.
We had another fabulous Leaders afternoon this week. This week we focused on feeding a variety of shots, starting with forehand and backhand and moving onto volleys and smashes.
There was general consensus that trying to coordinate feeding smashes whilst keeping yourself stocked with balls, was no easy task!
A huge well done to you all - looking forward to seeing you at the next session in a couple of weeks.
Huge congratulations are in line for Nico Papanicolaou for winning the most improved yellow ball player. His work rate in practice is second to none and boy can this kid move, he has rockets in his shoes!! Nico's game has just gone from strength to strength and I just love his "Juan Carlos Ferrero" (2003 French Open Champion) angled forehands....they rock! He is a smashing lad and deserves this award thoroughly. Unfortuantely Nico missed the awards night as he was at his schools end of year disco! Pictured here picking up his award last Friday with his proud coach!
Well done to Annabel Nuijens and Luciana Joy for winning the summer 12's mixed doubles competition beating Tommy Farmer and Nico Papanicolaou in a tightly contested final 7-5, 6-3. You will definitely be seeing more of these 4 gracing the courts at Sundridge Park in years to come!
Well done to Christian Nuijens and Luke Clifford for winning a thrilling final of the 16 and under summer doubles competition. They beat Janani Sivayogan and Annabel Nuijens 6-2, 4-6 and 12-10 in the champions tie-break. Some of the tennis was breath taking and was played in a wonderful spirit - well done to all!
Our last Sunday Blood, Sweat and Tears sessions took place yesterday and big congrats to all that came in - we had an amazing session and you were all awesome! This is not for the faint hearted, but boy this is a champions class! See you all back on court soon!
Our last Sunday yellow ball group of this term had myself and all parents that were watching gushing with pride. The improvement of every single person has been quite something to see! We have some great players in the making! Friendships have been forged all round and I can't wait for September to come round again. Have a fantastic summer!
Annabel enjoyed a day a Wimbledon yesterday and got to watch some fantastic tennis. In between matches Annabel couldn't resist heading down to the Kids Zone to challenge her own skills. Well done to Annabel for coming 3rd and can be seen here proudly standing next to the "Go Hit It Wall" honours board!!
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Awards Night on Friday evening. If ever there was an epitome of Family Night - this was it.
It was a fantastic event to acknowledge the progress of all our wonderful juniors and a big thank you from us to parents and children, for supporting the programme and bringing a lot of joy to Sundridge Park! In celebration, children of all ages, parents and coaches alike, filled the courts and played to their hearts content - dancing to the tunes and enjoying the barbecue and bar!
We'll just have to do it all over again!
Kiara Coke and Victoria Taurae put up a tremendous fight today for the mixed 10's team against a very strong Beckenham team. Both of the girls played beautifully in their singles, with Kiara winning a championship tie-break (12-10) against Beckenham's number 1 and Victoria losing narrowly in the 2nd singles. They then teamed up in the doubles losing in 2 close sets. Our girls and the Beckenham boys are pictured below. Both teams should be commended for taking part in a fabulous match played in a great spirit. Well done girls!!
6 year old Janis, who lives and attends an English School in Shanghai came over to England for 2 weeks with her parents to visit her grandparent's. I had the pleasure in teaching her tennis at Sundridge Park. She was a joy to teach and could be a future star! Janis returns home on Monday. I will miss you and I wish you every success and look forward to seeing you again when back in England! 再见,祝你好运
Sundridge Park should rightly be proud of Luciana Joy's recent success representing Bromley in the London Youth Games. She won all of her games throughout the competition including the final. Luciana's work rate on the practice court is second to none and a very bright future awaits her. Well done Luciana!!
Our Sundridge Park juniors were in fine from today, with the Mixed 10's (Rex Taylor and Ocean Cawley), Boys 14's (George Everitt and Hadi Makhmudk, pictured below, both looking uber cool!) and the Girls 14 team (Janani Sivayogan and Maria Manta) all notching up great victories in the scorching heat. A special note should be made to Joe Sivayogan's Girls 14's team for winning all their matches in their division - They will now go through to the play off stages. Great job Joe, can I sign you up to captain again next year!
A big well done to everyone that played in the Midweek Improvers tournament. We had fantastic weather throughout, though at one stage it got quite windy, which meant dealing George Wise's slice quite tricky! There was great tennis played by all, interceptions, lobbing, drop volleys, smashes and some wild celebrations courtesy of Jenny Mason! Congratulations to our 2 joint winners, Geraldine Nuijens and Hannah Maynard and also to the runner up Jane Everett. A lovely lunch followed the matches. A big thank you to my mother who helped organise it. Watch this space for further tournaments!
In the glorious sunshine this afternoon at Sundridge Park we ran a Mini Orange and Mini Red Matchplay event. Many of the children had never played a match before, so it was a new experience on many fronts, scoring, line calling, positioning, tactics and match etiquette - I have to say every one of you did yourselves and I am sure your parents very proud! Well done to you all, from a very proud coach!
Seen here are Sundridge Park's new little tennis superstars!
Congratulations to the Winner of the Mini Orange Matchplay Max Cobourne. Pictured here is Paolo Taurae Winner of the Mini Red Matchplay.......bearing an uncanny likeness to a certain Spaniard who triumphed in the French Open final today in Paris!!
We had a great turnout last Thursday and yesterday for the LTA Junior Tennis Leaders course. The course trains the children up to work as LTA Tennis Leaders (I am an LTA Qualified Tennis Leader Tutor) and then assist with some of the classes run at Sundridge Park. This will really enhance their interpersonal skills, gain a valuable qualification and enable them to earn some money! All of the children did really well and I can see some budding coaches on the horizon! A big thank you to all that attended and well done!

A big thank you to everyone who came along to the Davis Cup Legends Afternoon on Sunday. It was a fantastic day, where former Davis Cup players, Danny Sapsford and Luke Milligan put kids and adults through their paces.
A mini red/orange and green coaching session had children practising ball control, while the Junior yellow ball (pictured above) honed their stroke techniques. The afternoon concluded with an exhibition doubles match between Danny and Luke and our own Henry Whyte and James Everett from the Sundridge First Team. It was an inspiring display!
An enormous thank you to Danny and Luke for spending the afternoon with us and sharing their wealth of experience...
Sundridge Park's junior camps started yesterday and we had a great turn out. Pictured here were our top players taking a well earned rest for a quick photoshoot! The weather forecast is fab for the rest of the week, so lots of fun to be had!
